Week
#6 - Day 1
Please
join me in the effort to “Walk Lightly” on this earth.
This week I talk about how important it is to reuse or
recycle paper. I reuse paper in my artwork for cleaning brushes or print supplies,
but sometimes I throw away some paper that could have been used for something
else because there is so much of it.
Pick up a Paper from Trash
and Recycle
Americans throw away over 4.5 million
tons of office paper and nearly 10 million tons of newspaper almost all of
which could have been recycled.
Day
2
REUSE
PAPER FOR NOTE TAKING OR TO-DO LISTS
One ton of recycled paper saves 3,700
pounds of lumber. We may
all reuse paper for note-taking and to-do lists, however we must remember that recycling
uses energy, which can be reduced if you decide to reuse.
This guide includes
suggestions on how to reduce paper waste at home and at work.
Day
3
REUSE
PAPER GROCERY BAGS
According to TechSoup, if every household in the U.S. reused a paper grocery bag, about
60,000 trees could be saved.
One ton of recycled paper saves 24,000 gallons of water.
Day

ONLINE BANKING IS BEST
Online banking is safe. You
can save time, effort,
trees, gas, space and often, your sanity by having access to all of your funds.
One ton of recycled paper saves 17
trees, and creates five times more jobs than one ton of paper products from
virgin wood pulp.
Day
5
GET
RID OF JUNK MAIL
According to 41pounds.org, Americans receive over 5 million tons of
junk mail every year, and much of it is thrown into trash or recycling
bin. More on this during upcoming weeks.
You can opt out of some junk mail online
via www.directmail.com
I did this and it feels SO good.
